Returned to the list of the most beautiful villages in Italy and located in the Matese Regional Park, Cusano Mutri is a place that deserves to be discovered, visited in all its corners.
We are located in Campania, in the province of Benevento, at 450 meters above sea level.
A medieval village inhabited by about 4000 people, with a territory that draws wild places, sweet landscapes, lakes with clear waters and valleys and mountains to frame.
Apart from history, art and natural areas, Cusano Mutri is also famous for the Mushroom Festival which is one of the most important events in Campania and takes place on the last weekend of September for about three weeks. The Cusano festival, in addition to offering local gastronomic delights, is also linked to the organization of excursions, visits, exhibitions, performances and musical events.
Another highlight of the village is the Infiorata. For over a century, on the day of Corpus Domini, it has been a tradition to flower the streets, squares and churches throughout the country. The practice of flowering gives life to real works of art that last only until evening, when they are swept away by the passage of the Solemn Procession of the Sacrament. The infiorata is a religious tradition, deeply rooted in the local community.
In addition to the enchanted landscape, fresh air and medieval charm, Cusano Mutri is also characterized by the presence of caves, gorges of extraordinary beauty and many paths to follow. The Caccaviola Gorge is located 7 kilometers from Cusano. It is a fairly long route that begins with a breathtaking 30-meter descent into the river. Then space for fun, including dives and walks in the narrow canyon carved by the erosive force of water. With its waterfalls and natural pools, the Caccaviola Gorge is one of the most spectacular gorges in Italy. The Conca Torta Gorges, on the other hand, are located near the historic center of Cusano Mutri, right along the Reviola stream. These are explored thanks to an adventurous path that is divided between limestone rocks, waterfalls, jumps on the river bed.
The spirit of adventure, the passion for medieval history and deep-rooted traditions that are the reflection of the soul of a community that wants to tell its story.
The desire to live a total experience that embraces nature, art, fun, the wonder linked to discovery. These are the necessary requirements to go to Cusano Mutri, a Campania jewel to admire, experience and cherish in the heart.
